Description: The New Teacher Progject (TNTP) prepares exceptional teachers for the students who need them most – those in our country’s most disadvantaged communities, where too many children start school behind and struggle to catch up. In Baltimore, the Baltimore City Teaching Residency is committed to helping outstanding professionals enter the Baltimore City Public School System and begin teaching in our city’s public schools. Professionals from all fields will bring their experience, knowledge, and records of achievement to the classroom to positively impact the lives of the students who need them the most.

The Baltimore City Residency program is accepting applications for the following content areas: Biology, Chemistry, Early Childhood Education, English, Mathematics, Special Education-Elementary, Special Education-English, and Special Education-Math

Program Preferences: The program looks for people with little or no teaching experience but who are driven to succeed and people who have excelled as students and in their extracurricular and professional activities.

Strong candidates are those who are committed to having a positive effect on student achievement, who display excellence in their previous endeavors, and who are dedicated to reaching and influencing students – especially those in under-resourced areas – on a daily basis.

Award Amount: Once hired, you will be a full-time employee of Baltimore City Public Schools and will earn the same starting salary as any other first-year teacher in the district. As a Resident, you can also access the same comprehensive benefits as all new teachers in the District, including medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage. Please note that as a Baltimore City Teaching Resident, you are responsible for TNTP Academy tuition and fees, which will total approximately $6,200 during the 2015-2016 school year.
